Wills Ridley Limited were asked by Vosper Thornycroft (UK) Ltd to design a Steering System to provide practical answers to satisfy an extensive specification for “Mirabella V” the 75 metre Single Masted Yacht in build at Southampton. “Mirabella V” is the world’s largest sailing yacht of its type. The Electro-Hydraulic Steering System (MIRA CAL) relies upon an advanced electronic, full follow up, control module, which has many unique features that include: |

| The scope of supply included the Rudder Carriers, Rudder Stock Connectors, and two pairs of Hydraulic Actuators. The Ultra quiet Power Packs are fitted with power on demand, Axial Piston, Hydraulic Pumps and Programmable, Proportional Solenoid Valves, which compliment the compact, functional design. The two Power Packs are automatically controlled such that if one for any reason fails then the other will immediately take over. Backup Steering consists of Non follow Up Joy Sticks and Manual Helm Pumps. | |
